New York Attorney General Letitia James Urges Residents to Submit Videos and Photos Following Canal Street Raid

(WNY News Now) – NEW YORK — New York Attorney General Letitia James has announced the launch of an online portal for residents to submit videos, photos, or other documentation of U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) activity across the state. The initiative follows a reported ICE raid on Canal Street in New York City earlier this week.

Attorney General James said the new portal will help her office review potential violations of the law related to immigration enforcement actions.

“Every New Yorker has the right to live without fear or intimidation,” said Attorney General James. “If you witnessed and documented ICE activity yesterday, I urge you to share that footage with my office. We are committed to reviewing these reports and assessing any violations of law. No one should be subject to unlawful questioning, detention, or intimidation.”

According to the Attorney General’s Office, the new reporting portal is designed to make it easier for residents to provide information directly to state investigators. Submissions can include photos, videos, or written descriptions of federal immigration enforcement operations that occur in New York.

The announcement comes amid growing public concern over immigration enforcement actions in major cities. The Attorney General’s Office has previously intervened in cases involving alleged civil rights violations during ICE operations and continues to monitor federal activity affecting New York residents.

New Yorkers who wish to share documentation of ICE activity can access the portal through the Office of the Attorney General’s official website.
