(WNY News Now) – The National Weather Service in Buffalo has issued a Winter Weather Advisory for portions of Western New York, warning of accumulating snow and hazardous travel conditions through Wednesday afternoon.
According to the National Weather Service office in Buffalo, two separate advisory periods are in effect for Wyoming, Cattaraugus, and Southern Erie counties.
Advisory Timing and Snowfall Totals
The first Winter Weather Advisory remains in effect until 6 a.m. Tuesday, bringing additional localized snow accumulations of up to 1 to 2 inches.
A second Winter Weather Advisory will take effect from 7 p.m. Tuesday through 1 p.m. Wednesday. During that time, forecasters expect total snow accumulations of 3 to 5 inches. The greatest snowfall is anticipated across higher terrain areas within the three counties.

- Cattaraugus County
- Southern Erie County
Higher elevations are expected to see the most significant snowfall totals.
Travel Impacts Expected
Periods of steady snowfall are forecast to create snow-covered roads and reduced visibility. Officials warn that slippery road conditions could impact both the Tuesday morning and evening commutes.
Drivers are urged to slow down and use caution while traveling. Allow extra time to reach destinations and maintain a safe distance from other vehicles.

The advisory was issued at 2:03 a.m. EST on February 24 by the National Weather Service in Buffalo and remains in effect until 1 p.m. Wednesday for the second advisory period.
