(WNY News Now) – JAMESTOWN, N.Y. — A 23-year-old Jamestown resident was charged with driving while intoxicated after police responded to a report of an unresponsive driver on the city’s south side Sunday afternoon.

Officers from the Jamestown Police Department’s Second Platoon were dispatched at approximately 4:27 p.m. on April 5, 2026, for a report of a male slumped in the driver’s seat of a running vehicle.

Upon arrival, officers located the individual, identified as Sven C. Anderson, and conducted an investigation. Police determined that Anderson was allegedly intoxicated while operating the vehicle.

Anderson was taken into custody without incident and transported to the Jamestown City Jail for processing. He was subsequently charged with Driving While Intoxicated and Aggravated Driving While Intoxicated, Per Se.

Following processing, Anderson was released with an appearance ticket and turned over to a sober party. He is scheduled to appear in Jamestown City Court at a later date to answer the charges. As are all persons accused of a crime, the accused is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
