(WNY News Now) – JAMESTOWN, N.Y. — A 52-year-old Jamestown man is facing a felony-level charge after police investigated a reported domestic dispute Sunday evening on the city’s south side.
Officers with the Jamestown Police Department responded to a residence at approximately 6:30 p.m. on April 12, 2026, for a report of a domestic incident. Upon arrival, officers located Michael S. Cook walking away from the scene. The victim was found at a nearby residence.
According to police, an investigation determined that Cook allegedly pushed the victim and then grabbed her by the throat, applying pressure. Authorities subsequently took Cook into custody without incident.
Cook has been charged with criminal obstruction of breathing or blood circulation. He was transported to the Jamestown City Jail, where he is being held pending arraignment in Jamestown City Court. As are all persons accused of a crime, the accused is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
