(WNY News Now) – JAMESTOWN, N.Y. — A Jamestown woman faces felony charges following a late-night downtown hit-and-run investigation that led officers to her residence, according to the Jamestown Police Department.

On April 14, 2026, at approximately 11:12 p.m., officers from the Jamestown Police Department’s 3rd Platoon responded to a downtown business after receiving a report of a property damage crash involving a vehicle that had left the scene.

Police say officers began an immediate investigation and were able to trace the suspect vehicle back to its registered owner’s address. Upon making contact with the operator, identified as Leonela E. Rodriguez, 36, of Jamestown, officers determined she had been operating the vehicle at the time of the crash.

Authorities reported that Rodriguez showed signs of intoxication during the investigation.

Rodriguez was taken into custody without incident and transported to the city jail. She is currently being held pending arraignment in Jamestown City Court on the following charges:

  • Driving While Intoxicated (Felony)
  • Leaving the Scene of a Property Damage Accident
  • Unlicensed Operator

Police noted that Rodriguez has a prior conviction for Driving While Ability Impaired by a combination of drugs and alcohol, which elevates the current DWI charge to a felony under New York State law.

Rodriguez remains in custody pending arraignment. As are all persons accused of a crime, the accused is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
