(WNY News Now) – A Jamestown man was charged with Driving While Ability Impaired by Drugs after a personal injury crash at the intersection of West 6th Street and Clinton Street on July 24, according to the Jamestown Police Department.

JAMESTOWN, N.Y. — Officers with the Jamestown Police Department responded to a reported personal injury motor vehicle accident at approximately 10:07 a.m. on July 24, 2026, at the intersection of West 6th Street and Clinton Street.

Following an investigation, police determined that one of the drivers, Demeatrice E. Maddox, 36, of Jamestown, was allegedly operating a vehicle while impaired by drugs.

Maddox was taken into custody and transported to the Jamestown City Jail without incident. He was charged with Driving While Ability Impaired (DWAI-Drugs) and issued additional uniform traffic tickets.

After processing, Maddox was released with an appearance ticket and is scheduled to appear in Jamestown City Court at a later date.

The Jamestown Police Department did not release additional information regarding the injuries sustained in the crash. As with all criminal charges, the allegations are accusations, and the defendant is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in a court of law.
