(WNY News Now) – A Ripley woman is facing multiple charges after the Chautauqua County Sheriff’s Office investigated a single-vehicle crash on Route 60 in the Town of Gerry on July 31.
GERRY, N.Y. — The Chautauqua County Sheriff’s Office responded to a reported single-vehicle crash on Route 60 in the Town of Gerry at approximately 8:39 p.m. on July 31, 2026.
Deputies identified the driver as Shannon M. Smith, 43, of Ripley. Following an investigation, authorities determined Smith was allegedly operating the vehicle while intoxicated.
Smith was charged with Aggravated Driving While Intoxicated (alleged blood alcohol content of .18% or higher), Driving While Intoxicated, Consumption of Alcohol in a Motor Vehicle, and Moved From Lane Unsafely.
She was arrested and is scheduled to appear in Gerry Town Court at a later date.
The charges are accusations, and Smith is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in a court of law.
