(WNY News Now) – A Hamburg man has been convicted of three charges after a jury found he sent text messages and images to a minor while an order of protection was in effect.

Erie County District Attorney Michael J. Keane announced that Ezechiel Travis, 39, of Hamburg, was found guilty Wednesday of disseminating indecent material to a minor in the first degree, criminal contempt in the first degree and endangering the welfare of a child.

The jury reached its verdict after less than one hour of deliberation following a three-day trial.

According to the District Attorney’s Office, Travis sent text messages to a juvenile victim at approximately 1 p.m. on September 17, 2025. Prosecutors said the communication violated an existing order of protection.

The messages and images were alleged to have been sent with the intent to induce the minor to engage in sexual conduct or a sexual performance. Prosecutors also said Travis knowingly communicated with the victim despite being aware of the order of protection.

The victim’s mother reported the incident to police.

Travis remains remanded without bail. A temporary order of protection issued on behalf of the victim remains in effect.

Travis faces a maximum sentence of seven years in prison. He is scheduled to be sentenced before State Supreme Court Justice Kelly Vacco on November 9, 2026, at 10 a.m.

As a result of the conviction, Travis will also be required to register as a sex offender.

The investigation was conducted by Detective Nicholas Borowski of the Town of Hamburg Police Department. The District Attorney’s Office also credited Victim Case Manager Nicole Haffa and Chief of Technology Frank Palisano for their work on the case.

The prosecution was handled by Assistant Chief Rebecca A. Fioravanti of the Special Victims Unit and Assistant District Attorney Ryan A. Emmerling of the Special Investigations and Prosecutions Unit.
