(WNY News Now) – Two Olean residents were arrested after a traffic stop in Carrollton led to the recovery of methamphetamine and fentanyl, according to the Cattaraugus County Sheriff’s Office.

Two Olean residents were arrested Wednesday following a drug investigation in the Town of Carrollton, according to the Cattaraugus County Sheriff’s Office.

Deputies assigned to the Seneca Nation Allegany Territory conducted a traffic stop at about 2:18 a.m. Sept. 23. During the roadside investigation, deputies deployed K9 Lex to conduct a vehicle sniff.

The sheriff’s office said K9 Lex gave a positive indication for the odor of narcotics. Deputies then searched the vehicle and recovered quantities of methamphetamine and fentanyl.

Jeffrey L. Haberer, 54, and Shantel N. Coyle, 35, both of Olean, were taken into custody and transported to the Cattaraugus County Sheriff’s Office for processing.

According to the sheriff’s office, Coyle was processed and released with an appearance ticket on charges of Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the Third Degree, Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the Fourth Degree, and Obstructing Governmental Administration.

Haberer was processed and released with an appearance ticket charging him with Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the Seventh Degree.

Both are scheduled to appear in Town of Carrollton Court at a later date.

The charges are allegations, and both defendants are presumed innocent unless proven guilty in court.
