JAMESTOWN – The hero police officer credited with saving a Jamestown family from a fire this year will serve as the Grand Marshal for December’s holiday parade.

The parade’s organizer, Collaborative Children’s Solutions, announced the news on Friday that Officer Mark Conklin will lead the festive celebration.

In July, Conklin helped save the Rivera family after they woke up in the middle of the night to their William Street home completely engulfed in flames.

The footage from Conklin’s body camera went viral, gaining over 100,000 viewers online.

Conklin was recognized for his lifesaving work by the city’s council, and again will receive merited praise during the holiday celebration.

The parade is scheduled to kickoff on Saturday, December 4 at 6 p.m. along Third Street in Downtown Jamestown.
