The Planning & Economic Development Committee will address critical economic and environmental initiatives in Chautauqua County during their June 18, 2024, meeting.

Key resolutions under consideration include:
- Amendment to the 2024 Capital Budget: This resolution aims to allocate funds for shovel-ready improvements at Mason Industrial Park and authorize an agreement with the Chautauqua County Industrial Development Agency. These improvements are expected to boost economic activity and attract new businesses to the area.
- Inter-Municipal Agreement with the Town of Mina: A proposed resolution to foster collaboration and resource sharing between Chautauqua County and the Town of Mina. This agreement is anticipated to enhance local infrastructure and services, benefiting residents and businesses alike.
- Use of Occupancy Tax Reserve Funds for Lawson Boating Heritage Center: This proposal seeks to amend budgets and authorize the use of Chautauqua County’s 2% and 3% occupancy tax reserve funds for structural repairs at the Lawson Boating Heritage Center. The repairs are crucial for preserving this important cultural and historical site.
- SEQRA Review for 2% Watershed Occupancy Tax Grant Program Projects for 2025: This resolution involves authorizing a State Environmental Quality Review Act (SEQRA) review for projects funded by the 2% Watershed Occupancy Tax Grant Program, aimed at protecting and enhancing local watersheds.
- SEQRA Review for 2% In-Lake Occupancy Tax Grant Program Projects for 2025: Similar to the watershed review, this resolution seeks SEQRA authorization for in-lake projects funded by the 2% occupancy tax, promoting ecological health and recreational opportunities in Chautauqua’s lakes.
In addition to the resolutions, an update on the Ripley Site will be presented by Nate Aldrich, Economic Development Coordinator. This discussion will provide insights into the ongoing developments and future plans for the site, which holds significant economic potential for the region.
