Attorney General James Secures Convictions in $250,000 Fentanyl and Cocaine Operation

NEW YORK – New York Attorney General Letitia James has announced the successful convictions of 14 individuals involved in a significant drug trafficking ring in Western New York. The operation was responsible for distributing over $250,000 worth of fentanyl pills and cocaine in Erie and Niagara counties. The central figures have received state prison sentences following an extensive investigation led by the Office of the Attorney General’s (OAG) Organized Crime Task Force (OCTF).

The investigation resulted in the seizure of 1,440 counterfeit prescription “M-30” fentanyl pills, nearly one kilogram of cocaine valued at $130,000, a loaded .45 caliber pistol, and more than $4,000 in cash. The operation was primarily based in Buffalo and involved complex distribution networks and coded language to evade law enforcement.

Attorney General Letitia James stated, “Stopping drug trafficking operations that sell deadly narcotics is critical to keeping New Yorkers safe. Not only did these traffickers distribute deadly amounts of fentanyl, they put New Yorkers in even more danger by disguising their drugs as prescription pills. I want to thank our partners in law enforcement for helping to secure these convictions. My office will continue to use every tool at our disposal to protect New Yorkers’ safety and bring those fueling the opioid addiction crisis to justice.”

Key figures and their sentences include:

  • Charles Sims: Pleaded guilty to Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the Second Degree; sentenced to nine years in prison.
  • Musa Ramadan: Pleaded guilty to Criminal Sale of a Controlled Substance in the Second Degree; sentenced to eight years in prison.
  • Tevin Jeter: Pleaded guilty to Criminal Sale of a Controlled Substance in the Third Degree; sentenced to four years in prison.
  • Michael McPhee: Pleaded guilty to Attempted Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the Third Degree; sentenced to 3.5 years in prison.

DEA New York Division Special Agent in Charge Frank Tarentino commented, “The guilty pleas from members of this Drug Trafficking ring are a result of the collaborative effort DEA New York has with New York’s Office of the Attorney General, New York State Police, and our law enforcement partners effectively targeting those organizations and individuals poisoning our communities.”

The 18-month investigation utilized physical and wiretap surveillance to track and dismantle the network. Key operatives were caught through intercepted phone conversations where they used cryptic terminology to discuss their illegal activities.

New York State Police Superintendent Steven G. James added, “This investigation and the convictions against these 14 individuals are evidence of the commitment we share with our law enforcement partners in keeping dangerous drugs off our streets.”

  1. Good! Get them all off the streets! Should have gotten more time because I’m sure they’ve killed people with their poison before they were arrested! I lost my son Travis 3 yrs ago to fentanyl poisoning! I and so many other parents are living a nightmare! Not to mention the children and babies growing up without their mommies/daddies and the siblings living without their brothers/sisters! 💔🙏😇

    1. Shelly I totally agree with you, I also lost my only son to fentanyl, however it was murder, it was slipped into his drink and then his money, wedding ring and belongings disappeared, took us 8 days to find him, he had been dumped into a marsh in Georgia. The people involved only received 10 years, there was no way to prove he was alive when dumped. The laws should be stronger.

New York AG is too busy attacking President Trump and interfering in the election to go after more.

  4. I agree with you

  5. they need to start handing out way harsher sentencing for these evil bastards who sell fentanyl . Its the most inhumane thing ive seen in years. RIP to Antonio King ! Tried to take percocets due to a bad leg injury and passed away due to this BS! erie county get these bastards off the street

  6. The real question is why do people resort to selling narcotics in the first place? Lack of opportunities for a living wage, broken homes, drug addiction. If there wasn’t the demand, there wouldn’t be the amount of sales. Education is paramount to teach kids at a young age that drugs are poison and will kill you. It’s not if, it’s when.

    1. It’s same story. Most who sell aren’t addicts. Albany, NY, a hotbed of hackers who were created for perdition. AKA, 1214 Nick N. No reason to be here.Groups mass attack people who haven’t any money, old and weak They just take. I couldn’t make a cell call, Internet, all accounts closed, no reason. Said he stalked me for 20 years. I was brought up strong. Last five months took a real toll of FBI, CIA, Homeland, 13 911 calls to our local police. 4 hit and runs. Cowards relying on fear. I told it I would find him, I never give up.

  7. While you’re at it why not go after the pharmaceutical companies……that in reality are large scale drug dealers making billions of $ year in and year out. Oh wait how could I forget…..they bribe our supposed political POS leaders, both Democrats and Republicans billions of dollars that basically allow them to deal drugs with absolutely zero accountability. The sad thing is they are one of several industry that use lobbies to bribe said politicians including the following industries….insurance, big banking, healthcare, big oil and many others. Still these industries continue largely unabated while the average person gets blamed for the majority of America’s problems. Just proves what the Lord tells us in His Word…..” The love of money is the root of all evil”
