(WNY News Now) – A routine traffic stop by Jamestown Police early Friday morning resulted in drug and weapon charges for two Jamestown residents, after officers discovered methamphetamine, opiates, and a prohibited weapon inside the vehicle.
Jamestown, N.Y. – In the early hours of October 25, 2024, officers from the Jamestown Police Department conducted a traffic stop near West 4th Street and Jefferson Street. The stop resulted in the arrests of two Jamestown residents, Nathan M. Owen, 34, and Jarried M. Dean, 32, on multiple criminal charges.
During the investigation, officers identified Owen as a passenger with an outstanding warrant issued by the Jamestown Police Department. Owen was taken into custody, where a search revealed he was in possession of drug paraphernalia and a concealed quantity of fentanyl. Officers then conducted a comprehensive search of the vehicle, leading to further findings.
The search uncovered that another passenger, Jarried M. Dean, possessed a prohibited weapon, identified as a throwing star, which is illegal in New York State. Additionally, officers found 11.0 grams of methamphetamine concealed on Dean, along with homemade pills that later tested positive for opiates.
Following the discovery, both Owen and Dean were transported to the Jamestown City Jail. Owen faces charges of one count of Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the 7th Degree and the outstanding bench warrant. Dean is charged with two counts of Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the 7th Degree and Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the 4th Degree.
Both individuals are currently held at Jamestown City Jail, pending arraignment in Jamestown City Court. As are all persons accused of a crime, the accused are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
