JAMESTOWN – On April 18, 2025, at approximately 5:07 p.m., officers from the Jamestown Police Department’s 2nd Platoon responded to a report of a person with a weapon on Prendergast Avenue.
Prior to arriving at the scene, officers were informed that a male suspect had allegedly displayed a firearm during a dispute involving several individuals. Upon arrival, officers gathered that Illinois D. Jackson, 21, and Joseph B. Connolly, 20, both Jamestown residents, had confronted a pedestrian walking along the sidewalk.
According to the report, Jackson initially blocked the victim’s path. When the victim attempted to pass a second time, Connolly reportedly displayed what appeared to be a firearm in his waistband and made verbal threats. As the victim attempted to call police, Jackson then allegedly brandished a pipe and also made threats.
Both men were taken into custody without further incident and transported to the Jamestown City Jail. They have been charged with Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the Third Degree (due to prior convictions) and Menacing in the Second Degree. Two weapons were recovered during the investigation.
Jackson and Connolly are being held pending arraignment in Jamestown City Court. As are all persons accused of a crime, the accused is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
