(WNY News Now) – The Jamestown BPU rapidly resolved an incident at a local business this morning in which a live electrical wire was brought down after a delivery truck backed into the building’s electrical wiring from the power line.

Jamestown, N.Y. – Phatties, a local restaurant which recently had its grand opening on Friday, August 22, closed unexpectedly this morning after a delivery mishap.

When a scheduled delivery truck came to deliver inventory, the truck caught some of the electrical wiring running from the power line to the side of the building, exposing a live wire, which was brought down to within an arm’s grasp.

The BPU was quickly notified of the situation, and within 15 minutes of the call being placed, Tye Flurie, Transmission & Distribution Supervisor of the Jamestown BPU, was on the scene. Within another 15 minutes, a bucket truck was on the scene to readjust the wiring, and the issue was resolved within an hour of the incident occurring.

An electrician confirmed to the business that no notable damage to the electrical system had been incurred, and Phatties is scheduled to open its doors again tomorrow, Friday, August 29.

This marks another success for the Jamestown BPU, an often overlooked service that consistently ranks within the healthiest employers in the region. The business owner praised the BPU for the speed and effectiveness they displayed in handling the incident.

The food supplier is in contact with the business and property owner to resolve any other issues created by the mishap.
