(WNY News Now) – An 18-year-old Jamestown resident was taken into custody Wednesday after police located him on school property, following warrants issued in connection with a domestic incident reported earlier this month.

JAMESTOWN, N.Y. — Jamestown Police arrested Kyier R. Johnson, 18, on November 12 after locating him outside Jamestown High School on outstanding warrants stemming from a domestic incident reported six days earlier. Johnson now faces multiple felony and misdemeanor charges, including unlawful possession of a weapon on school grounds.

According to police, officers responded to the Jamestown Police Department late on November 6 for a report of a past domestic incident involving Johnson. The investigation determined that Johnson allegedly entered a family member’s residence without permission and became involved in a verbal altercation with the homeowner.

A second female victim later arrived at the residence to pick up her child. Police say Johnson allegedly displayed what appeared to be a firearm, menacing the woman while in close proximity to the child. Both individuals left the residence and reported the incident, prompting the issuance of arrest warrants for Burglary in the Second Degree, Menacing in the Second Degree, and Endangering the Welfare of a Child.

On November 12 at approximately 11:12 a.m., the Jamestown High School Resource Officer and school principal spotted Johnson on school property, where he is enrolled as a student. Police arrested him outside the building on the active warrants.

A search following his arrest revealed a CO2-powered BB gun pistol, leading to an additional charge of Unlawful Possession of a Weapon Upon School Grounds.

Johnson was transported to the Jamestown City Jail and subsequently arraigned in Jamestown City Court. He was remanded to the Chautauqua County Jail following arraignment. As are all persons accused of a crime, the accused is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
