Jamestown Police: West Side Call Leads to Arrest for Violating Stay-Away Order

(WNY News Now) – A Jamestown man was arrested Saturday morning after police say he violated a full stay-away order of protection during a domestic incident on the city’s west side.

According to the Jamestown Police Department, officers from the First Platoon responded to a residence at approximately 10:59 a.m. on November 29, 2025, for a reported domestic incident. Upon arrival, officers located the suspect, Robert J. Brown, a 50-year-old Jamestown resident, near the home.

Following an investigation, police determined that Brown had violated a full stay-away order of protection issued by Jamestown City Court, which required him to avoid contact with the victim. Officers also learned that Brown had a previous conviction for Criminal Contempt in the First Degree within the past five years.

Because of the prior conviction, the new offense was elevated to a felony charge of Criminal Contempt 1st.

Brown was taken into custody without incident and transported to the Jamestown City Jail. He is being held pending arraignment. As are all persons accused of a crime, the accused is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
