Jamestown police arrest 76-year-old after late-night response to assist EMS
(WNY News Now) – A Jamestown man was charged with forcible touching after police responded to a report of a man shivering outdoors on the city’s west side late Saturday night.
According to the Jamestown Police Department, officers from the 2nd Platoon were dispatched to a Westside address on November 29, 2025, at approximately 9:40 p.m. to assist Jamestown Fire and EMS. When officers arrived, they located a man who was reportedly cold and in need of assistance.
During the investigation, officers learned that the individual, identified as 76-year-old Jamestown resident James H. Bello, had been accused of forcibly touching the intimate parts of a male victim. Police conducted a show-up identification procedure, and the victim confirmed Bello as the suspect.
Bello was taken into custody and transported to the Jamestown City Jail, where he was charged with one count of Forcible Touching.
Police noted that under New York State bail reform laws, Bello was released with an appearance ticket and is scheduled to appear in Jamestown City Court at a later date. As are all persons accused of a crime, the accused is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
