(WNY News Now) – ELLICOTT, N.Y. — A 38-year-old Falconer man has been charged with felony aggravated cruelty to animals following an investigation by the Town of Ellicott Police Department.
According to the Town of Ellicott Police, officers responded to an animal cruelty complaint that led to the arrest of Christopher J. Jenkins on Feb. 2, 2026, at approximately 1:30 a.m.
Police allege that Jenkins recorded a video more than a month prior to the investigation showing himself choking and torturing a kitten. Authorities say the video was later sent to other individuals. Upon reviewing the footage, investigators determined that the kitten appeared to have sustained injuries.
During the investigation, Jenkins was unable to produce the animal so officers could verify its condition. After concluding their investigation, police believe the kitten is deceased and may have been discarded weeks or months before authorities were notified of the complaint.
Jenkins was charged with Aggravated Cruelty to Animals, a felony offense under New York State law. He was taken into custody and transported to the Chautauqua County Jail.
He is scheduled to appear in Town of Ellicott Court at a later date to answer to the charge. All charges are accusations, and the defendant is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in a court of law.
