(WNY News Now) – JAMESTOWN, N.Y. — A Jamestown man was taken into custody Saturday afternoon after police responded to a reported domestic dispute on the city’s north side and discovered an alleged violation of a court-issued order of protection.

Officers from the Jamestown Police Department responded to a north side residence at approximately 3:50 p.m. on March 21, 2026. Upon arrival, officers observed 43-year-old William C. Leamer exiting the home of the protected individual.

Police reported they were aware of an active stay-away order of protection in place against Leamer, requiring him to avoid contact with the victim and remain away from the residence. Based on this information, officers took Leamer into custody without incident.

Leamer was transported to the Jamestown City Jail, where he is being held pending arraignment in Jamestown City Court. He has been charged with Criminal Contempt in the First Degree, a felony offense under New York State law. As are all persons accused of a crime, the accused is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
